| Fees Information |
Conditions of booking |
Balance of fees to be paid no later than four weeks before course start date. Bookings after that date will require the full enrolment fee. We reserve the right to cancel a booking where the balance of fees has not been paid by the due date. All courses are reviewed two weeks prior to course date and cancellations made where insufficient numbers have enrolled. Your fee would be fully refunded in this case; otherwise deposits are non-refundable.
You are advised to check course viability before booking airfares. Buckinghamshire County Council reserves the right to modify in any way the arrangements announced for the Summer School. |
Direct debit |
If the cost of your courses amounts to more than £120 you can spread it by paying in 4 equal instalments. You will need to pay the first instalment by credit card, cheque or cash at the time of enrolling, which will secure your place on the course. We will then send you a Direct Debit mandate with your receipt, which you will need to complete and return to our Finance office. The Direct Debit will be taken from your account on the 15th of the following 3 months. NB: If you want to withdraw from the course, the three direct debit payments will still be taken from your bank account on the appointed dates. |
Credit card payments |
At the time of booking, authorisation may be given for the balance of course fees to be debited when they fall due. However, it is essential that the credit card is still active at that time (four weeks prior to course date) and you must, therefore, notify us of new expiry dates and changes to card number as and when they occur. |
Discounts |
Discount for block booking: If you book 4 or more weekends at the same time you will be eligible for a £20 discount. When enrolling, you will be expected to pay the deposits for all weekends booked. The balance of fees will be due 4 weeks prior to each of the weekends. The £20 will be deducted from the balance for the fourth weekend course.
Discount applies to all weekend courses but NOT day courses. |
Cancellations/refunds/transfers |
If the course of your choice does not take place because there are not enough enrolments to make it viable, we will refund your fee in full. Should you change your mind and wish to cancel your enrolment you should notify us within five days of booking and we will refund your fee in full. We regret that refunds cannot be given in any other circumstance. Please check course viability with us before confirming your travel. The council reserves the right to alter the content and timings of the programme or replace the tutor, if necessary. If you request a change or transfer, a £12.50 administration fee (inclusive of VAT) will be charged. |

Why are my fees going up? |
|
|
| The cost of most of the courses that Adult Learning provides is funded substantially by grants from the Learning & Skills Council (“LSC”). For 2009/2010, there has been a further change in government direction which means the subsidy for certain types of courses is being withdrawn. Funding is being directed at those with low levels of qualifications and specific priority groups, including to support those who cannot afford to pay. Adult Learning is committed to retaining the widest possible range of learning opportunities. This can only be done by considerably increasing the fees in areas which are not a priority for the LSC. |
The standard course fee is made up as follows: |
Tuition fees, teas/coffees and overhead costs ............................ £110.00
Contribution towards tutor accommodation, travel & meals ......... £11.00
Accommodation & meals for residents ..................................... £127.00
The fees above do not show supplementary costs incurred by certain courses.
Please see fees
stated by each course. |

Learners can purchase Cancellation Protection for fees up to £725 in the event of cancellation directly due to death, injury or sickness of the learner, their close family or person booked to accompany the learner on the course, subject to certain conditions or exclusions.
When making a claim, it will be necessary to produce a medical certificate. It is strongly recommended that all learners make arrangements to protect course fees in the event of cancellation, either through our scheme if resident in the UK or through their own travel agent or insurance broker.
